Three people from Nagaland won the ‘Best House Construction Award’ under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The winners are Seyievino Angami and John Liegise Zeliang from Dimapur and Kezhusenu Tase from Kohima. A total of 88 people from across the country were conferred with the award.
The Secretary to the Government of India handed out the awards to the beneficiaries virtually during the annual awards for excellence in implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) Mission recently.
The central government’s department of housing and urban affairs has announced that Andhra Pradesh has bagged the best performance in three categories – best practice, innovation, and best project practice.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission, launched on June 25, 2015, intends to provide housing for all in urban areas by the year 2022.
The flagship scheme of ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ has been designed to meet the housing needs of urban poor and the mission is to be implemented during 2015-2022 and will provide central assistance to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and other implementing agencies through States/UTs for developing Affordable Housing in Partnership.
“PMAY – Empowering India Awards” seeks to recognize the sincere efforts and contributions of the Central & State Govt. Agencies, Private Developers in achieving Hon’ble Prime Minister’s dream of “Housing for All by 2022” through different PPP models and promoting affordable housing.
Under the Economically weaker Sections (EWS) scheme, each beneficiary is given Rs 1.66 lakh to build his or her house
The award scheme will recognize, motivate, and facilitate the State Govt. Agencies which has adopted innovative practices in developing affordable housing under PMAY-Urban. The objective is to recognize and acknowledge exceptional contributions made by different State Govt. towards developing innovative solutions, adopting innovative technology in construction, community mobilization, slum redevelopment, policy initiatives, project monitoring, etc.
PMAY – Empowering India Awards” will also be given to the Private Real Estate Developer which has shown innovation in the way they design, build and as well as offer a variety of services to their buyers – Recognizing and Benchmarking newly developed affordable housing society that showcases the innovative concept, unique financing mechanisms, comfort, quality design, and high-quality affordable housing.
