Prof.Siddhartha Pratim Chakrabarty of Dept. of Mathematics of IIT Guwahati has been selected for the “Scholarship Scheme for Faculty Members from Academic Institutions – 2020” of RBI. Siddhartha Pratim Chakrabarty is a Professor of Mathematics and Finance at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, which is one of the premier educational institutes of the country.
He has more than ten years of teaching experience (in addition to research experience) in the areas of financial engineering, computational finance, portfolio theory, and financial risk management and has offered several courses to the B.Tech. (Mathematics and Computing) and M.Sc. (Mathematics and Computing) students of IIT Guwahati.

Siddhartha Pratim Chakrabarty’s primary areas of research include Mathematical Finance and Mathematical Biology. While his current work on the former (Mathematical Finance) involves the computational aspects of pricing, portfolio theory, financial risk management, actuarial mathematics and data science, the latter (Mathematical Biology) involves deterministic, stochastic and control theoretic approaches, in modelling of biological phenomenon.
The Scholarship Scheme for Faculty Members from Academic Institutions is a scheme for faculty members aims at bringing on board scholars, who would be able to undertake and pursue critical projects successfully and thereby contribute to the Reserve Bank’s research universe. The broad objectives of the scheme are to increase awareness about the activities of the Bank amongst faculty members and student community and to provide exposure to faculty members teaching economics and/or finance in different areas/activities of operations in the Reserve Bank.
