A two days e-workshop on the Topic “Sustainable Lifestyle and Non Violent Communication was organised by Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti (GSDS), New Delhi in joint collaboration with State Bal Bhavan, Guwahati under Department of Social Welfare, Govt. of Assam on 8th and 9th June 2020. Around 55 children and all the teachers of State Bal Bhavan,Guwahati participated in the two days workshop.

The workshop started with a welcome address from State Bal Bhavan. An inaugural speech was given by Dr. Vedabhyas Kundu, Programme Officer, GSDS, New Delhi where he inspired the participants with a wonderful speech and talked about the five pillars of Non violence. The workshop continued with a Theme Speech on “Sustainable Lifestyle and Non-violent Communication by Kabita Sarma Bhattacharjya, Ex-Principal, State Bal Bhavan, Guwahati and Retd. Dy. Director, DSW, Govt. of Assam and was followed by another Theme Speech delivered by Rumjhum Goswami, Retd. Dy. Director, DSW, Govt. of Assam. The third session was taken by Mr Gulshan Gupta, North East Co-ordinator, GSDS on Sustainable Lifestyle post COVID- 19. A simulation exercise was conducted by Ms. Prerna Jindal where she interacted with the students and gave them some tasks to be presented on the second day.

The second day of the workshop started with a Motivational Speech on Non violent Communication by Ms. Madhurima Choudhury, Prominent and Popular Actress and Artist of Assam. The children were quite inspired and motivated by the speech. The children (participants) displayed their presentations and reflections through art, poetry and speech. The session was co-ordinated by Ms. Prerna Jindal and Mr. Gulshan Gupta. This was followed by a theme speech by Ms. Prerna. The interactive session was very lively. There was a video play session where videos of dance, song and mime acts related to environment conservation and COVID-19 awareness, performed by some participants of State Bal Bhavan, were played. The participants (children of State Bal Bhavan) on the second day of the workshop also undertook plantation activities and took a pledge to conserve the environment with such activities. The entire two days workshop was moderated by Mr. Minangka Deka, popular mime artist and teacher of State Bal Bhavan. The workshop was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Binjumoni Das, Principal, State Bal Bhavan, Guwahati.
