Earth Hour 2021 will be observed on Saturday to spread awareness about climate change. The event is an initiation of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Every year, Earth Hour is commemorated annually on the last Saturday of the month of March. The symbolic lights-out Earth Hour began in 2007 in Sydney. On the other hand, the world continues to battle the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) health crisis. We have seen the worst. We must not forget , India is also home to 21 of the world’s 30 most polluted cities.
Firstly, switch off all non-essential lights and electronic appliances to conserve energy. Secondly, you can switch off the lights for an hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
According to www.downtoearth.org.in, “Earth Hour is more than the symbolic switching off of lights — it is about embracing clean technology innovations that minimize damage to the environment. In the long run, these will not only help address the challenge of climate change but also bring about tremendous improvements in local air quality.”
