After Piku, Amitabh Bachchan has joined Deepika Padukone in the Hindi adaptation of Nancy Meyers’ The Intern. Earlier, late Rishi Kapoor was about to play Mr. Bachchan’s role. The Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood flick will see Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan sharing screen space once again. Padukone is also co-producing the film with Warner Bros India and Sunir Kheterpal.

The original film starred Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, and Rene Russo in lead roles. Sharing a poster Padukone wrote, ” What an absolute honour to be collaborating with one of my most special co-star again!💛

Welcoming @amitabhbachchan to the Indian adaptation of #TheIntern.”


The Intern will be helmed by Badhaai Ho‘s Amit Sharma. Meanwhile, The screenplay has been adapted by Akshat Ghildial and Mitesh Shah.

Padukone, who announced the Hindi remake in January 2020, told Press Trust of India, “The Intern is an intimate, relationship-driven film, set in and around the workplace; a story that I believe is very relevant to the present-day social and cultural environment. I have been looking for a light, breezy comedy-drama and this story fits in seamlessly. I cannot wait to begin this journey.”


On the other hand, Deepika Padukone will be seen in Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in Brahmastra and Chehre.

Firstly, The film is about a 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (De Niro), who applies for a senior intern at an online fashion site, after realizing that he is not cut out for retirement. Anne Hathaway played his boss in the film.

Secondly, The film was produced by the Warner Bros studios. It was also written by Meyers.
