In 2021, at the 26th January Republic Day Parade, the Assam tableau will showcase the tea garden of the state. After winning the Best Tableau award during last year’s Republic Day parade, Assam is all set to display its tableau in the 72nd Republic Day parade at the national capital and has chosen the theme ‘Assam tea- backbone of India’s economy.’
The state cultural affairs department is hoping to beg another award this year. It has been cleared by the Union Ministry of Defence for presentation on January 26, the Republic Day parade in Delhi.
The tableau will showcase Assam’s tea garden, tea workers’ culture, and other related aspects of the tea industry. The construction work has been awarded to Image Creations and will start by 12th January tentatively.
The Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gave away the Best Tableaux award to Assam last year. It was followed by Odisha and Uttar Pradesh, both in the second position.
Assam’s theme for last year’s parade was the ‘Land of Unique Craftsmanship and Culture.’ A total of 15 states and Union territories showcased different themes in their tableaus in last year’s Republic Day. The tableau of Odisha showcased the Lord Lingaraja’s Rukuna Rath Yatra. On the other hand, the tableau of Uttar Pradesh showcased the cultural and religious heritage of the state.
