Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Chhote Lal Diwakar and his son were shot dead over after a fight broke out for work being done under MGNREGA scheme. The SP Leader and his son got into an argument with other two men from same village. Shamshoi village in Sambhal district, 379 km from state capital Lucknow was under construction of the rural employment generation scheme MGNREGS in the village. Because of the dispute over road construction Chhotelal Diwakar (50) and his son, Sunil Kumar (28) lost their lives. Police have sent their bodies for autopsy and a case will be registered soon.

SP Yamuna Prasad has started investigation and one of the accused has been identified as Savinder, a local strongman and few other people are being interrogated.
Firoz Khan, Samajwadi Party’s district president said that Chote Lal Diwakar, was the party’s candidate for the assembly election in 2017. However, he did not fight the polls as the seat went to the coalition party. Khan also held responsible local goons of the area for the murder.
